Manuel Cortinheiro Cerqueira, 50, of Pawtucket, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at the Rhode Island Hospital, after a sudden illness surrounded by his family. He was the beloved son of Joao Beites Cerqueira and Maria (Cortinheiro) Cerqueira.

Born in Roucas, Gavieira, Portugal, he moved to this country on March 23, 1985, settling in Pawtucket with his family.

Mr. Cerqueira was employed as a Cable Installer for various area communications companies, including Cox Communications and Comcast.

Manuel was a dedicated and passionate New England Patriots fan, and a loyal Porto Soccer Club fan. He loved playing cards with his family and friends, as well as trout fishing with his father and uncles. Those who love him will remember the love he shared with his family, especially to his beloved niece and nephew, which he loved as his own.

In addition to his parents, he leaves his loving sister, Maria Vaz and her husband Fernando Vaz Do Pio of Cumberland; his nephew, Jason Vaz Do Pio and his partner Gianna Palumbo and his niece, Sabrina Vaz Do Pio, all of Cumberland; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A celebration of his life will be held with Visiting Hours on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 from 9 to 10:30 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Mary Cemetery.
