Lucia Pacheco, 65, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 21, 2024, in the Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of her devoted husband, Joao F. Pacheco. Together, they shared 34 wonderful years of marriage, building a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Their bond was a testament to their unwavering commitment to one another.
Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Dinis and Etelvina (Resendes) Rodrigues. Lucia emigrated to the United States in the 1980's settling in Pawtucket.
She was known for her kindness and always offering support and compassion to those in need. She had a deep passion for cooking, spending countless hours in the kitchen preparing meals filled with love for her family and friends. In her downtime, she enjoyed watching her favorite soap operas, which brought her joy and entertainment. Above all she cherished her role as a grandmother, creating a loving home filled with warmth and laughter for them. She treasured every moment spent with them, and her happiest times were those shared with her loved ones, especially during family gatherings where her warmth and nurturing spirit shone the brightest.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Joao Pacheco. Along with her daughter Mariana Thompson and her fiancé Ben Geldmaker of North Smithfield, her two cherished grandchildren, Emma and Sofia. Luicia also leaves behind her sisters-in-law, Cidalia Correia and Filomena Rodrigues, as well Carina Oliveira and Daniela Velasquez-Vargas, whom she loved as daughters. She was the sister of the late, Dinis M. Rodrigues, and Maria C. Amaral.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Lucia's Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours on Sunday, October 27, 2024, from 4 PM to 7 PM and continuing on Monday, October 28, 2024, at 9 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM in St. Anthony Church, Lawn Avenue Pawtucket. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket.
