Lorraine J. Hammond, 61, of Harrisville, formerly of Cumberland, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, after a sudden illness. She was the beloved wife of John A. Hammond, with whom she shared 42 years of marriage filled with love, partnership, and devotion.

Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Henri O. and Dorothy A. (Doucette) Dextradeur. Lorraine made her home in Harrisville for the past 26 years, previously residing in Woonsocket.

Lorraine was employed in the Physical Therapy Department at Milford Hospital, where she was known for her dedication, warmth, and compassionate nature toward both patients and colleagues.

A woman with a zest for life, Lorraine enjoyed swimming, kayaking, traveling, and—above all—spending time with her grandchildren. Her happiest moments were those surrounded by family, whether on an outdoor adventure, celebrating milestones, or simply enjoying quiet moments together. Her grandchildren, Hunter and Dakota, were the light of her life, and she poured her love, time, and heart into creating lasting memories with them.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Sarina Gilbranson, and her husband Alan of Glendale, RI; her cherished grandchildren, Hunter and Dakota Gilbranson; her siblings, Louise Cruz of West Warwick, Donald Dextradeur and his wife Cheryl of Cumberland, and Deborah Lanni of Johnston; her "besties," Sandra Chianese and Amy Ackerman; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, close friends, and neighbors.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Lorraine's Life Celebration, to be held with visitation on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 10 AM to 12 NOON at the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A prayer service will be offered at 11:30 AM.
