Surrounded by family, Linda (Furtado) Kalafarski, 69, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025.  Hers was a beautiful life shortened by a cruel disease.

Linda and her sister Cheryl grew up in Tiverton, RI, the daughters of Louis P. and Elsie (Silvia) Furtado.  In 1973, as freshmen at URI she would meet her future husband Dave and the two would be a near perfect fit for 50+ years. She received her Master's Degree from Gallaudet University in DC, a global leader in education for deaf & hard of hearing students.

Her boundless love for all children led her to a career in teaching, spending most of her years at the Rhode Island School for the Deaf.  Married in 1980, Dave & Linda moved to Cumberland where they had two children; Laura and Andrew and were later blessed with 3 perfect grandchildren.  Linda had an immense kindness that allowed her to see the positive in people and situations, never speaking disparagingly about anyone.  She was also blessed with a network of family & friends that provided love & support everyday of her life.

Funeral Friday February 7 at 10:30 AM from the JJ Duffy Funeral Home 757 Mendon Rd Cumberland, RI.  Visiting hours Thursday, February 6, 2025, 4 PM – 7 PM.  In lieu of flowers please thank a caregiver and / or donate to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org).
