Obituary

WOONSOCKET

Kevin W. Oakley, 62, of Woonsocket, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket.   He was the husband of Julieanne Texeira Oakley who he adored and always mentioned how lucky he was to have such a caring, wonderful person in his life.

Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of Sandra Oakley deTonnancourt of Manville.  He resided in Woonsocket for the past 20 years, previously residing in Manville.

Kevin was an enlisted Infantry member and was responsible for rigging the parachutes of the 82nd Airborne Infantry division in the United States Army.  Unfortunately his time in service was cut short due to Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma and he medically retired.

As an exceptional athlete, and skilled outdoorsman, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it be crafting walking sticks, fishing by the water's edge, savoring moments with his family, or showcasing his talents not only in sports but also as a gifted and creative cook.  Those who love him will remember his big heart and quick wit, even at the most inappropriate times.

In addition to his wife and mother,  he leaves his five children, Ashley Oakley of Lincoln, Stephanie Guatieri and her husband Matthew of North Providence, Joshua Oakley and his girlfriend Lea Dattoli of Lincoln, Madison Oakley and Sadie Oakley, both of Woonsocket; his siblings, Philip Oakley and his wife Lisa of Lincoln, Mary Ann Cote and her husband Clement of North Smithfield, Michael Oakley of Harrisville, Linda Giguere of Florida, Karen Kelly and her husband Frank of Lincoln, Marlena Choiniere and her husband Lionel of Attleboro, and Kathleen Giguere and her husband Marc of Cumberland; his grandchildren, Jarett, Ava, Ayiden, and Shaye; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Kevin's Life Celebration to be held with Visitation on Saturday, Jan 13, 2024 from 9 AM to 10:30 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home.   Burial will be held privately at RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Disabled American Veterans, 360 Westminster St, Providence, RI 02903.
