Obituary

On July 26, 2023, Kellee Anne Paz (née Sexton) passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones. She was 65 years old. Kellee is survived by her sons Eddie and Michael, daughter Kayla, daughter-in-law Judy, son-in-law Daniel, and two grandchildren, Jaylen and Lyla. She is also survived by her three siblings, Cynthia, Joseph, and John, her nieces and nephews, Lynn, John Anthony, Cory, Marc, Jacqueline, Nicole, Noelle, and Hailey, as well as her great-nieces and great-nephews. She is predeceased by her nephew William.

Kellee was an example of courage in the face of difficulty. Born on September 16th, 1957 in Providence, RI to Carole Flynn, Kellee worked diligently to become the first person in her family to get a college degree. She used it to pursue a career as a Registered Nurse out of a sincere desire to help others. Kellee spent the majority of her adult life in Cumberland, RI where she raised a family with her former husband, Orlando. Her final years were marked by a number of health issues. Despite these difficulties, Kellee remained an active and vital woman throughout her life. Even after officially retiring in 2018 following more than 30 years at Women and Infants Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island, she continued to work occasional shifts at the hospital when she was physically able. She reveled in the company of her family and friends and enjoyed taking any opportunity to travel, both with them and on her own. She fondly remembered and shared stories of her trips throughout the US, especially Las Vegas, as well as to Mexico, Guatemala, Europe and China. Her happiest moments were spent sharing food and laughs with family and friends, particularly around the holidays. She will be remembered as a genuine person, a devoted mother, aunt, and grandmother, and a tireless advocate for women through her work as a certified obstetrics and gynecological nurse and certified Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner in the emergency department of Woman and Infants.

Funeral services for Kellee will be held on Friday, August 4th at 10 AM at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church on Mendon Road in Cumberland, RI. She will be interred at the nearby Resurrection Cemetery directly following the funeral mass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to one of Kellee's favorite charities: the Izzy Foundation (www.theizzyfoundation.org). The family invites those attending the funeral to wear blue or purple clothing or accessories as those were Kellee's favorite colors.
