Judy enjoyed ceramics, camping, family vacations, and traveling.

Judy O’Hara Shorter, 64, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of Guy Shorter, with whom she shared 44 years of marriage.

Born in Waterbury, Connecticut, Judy was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary (Boyle) O’Hara.

Judy dedicated 28 years of her career to Memorial Hospital, where she worked in the Pulmonary Department. She also worked for many years at Yankee Candle, forming friendships and memories throughout her working life.

Above all else, Judy treasured her family. Her children and grandchildren were truly the center of her world, and nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time with them. She especially looked forward to days shared with her grandchildren and to gathering with those she loved during the holidays.

Judy enjoyed ceramics, camping, family vacations, and traveling. Her trips to Ireland held a special place in her heart, allowing her to embrace the beauty, culture, and traditions of a place that meant so much to her.

In addition to her husband, Guy, she leaves her loving children, Brendan Shorter and his wife, Kerri, Meaghan Shorter, and Colin Shorter and his wife, Raeanne; and her five adored grandchildren, Neala, Emma, Maddelyn, Brendan, and Teagan, who brought immeasurable joy to her life.

She also leaves her sister, Maura; her aunt, Maryellen; as well as several loving nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Danny O’Hara.

Judy will be remembered for the love she gave so freely to her family, the happiness she found in simply being together, and the many cherished memories created through holidays, vacations, travels, and everyday moments with those she loved most.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, September 28, 2026, at 10:00 AM in Historic St. Joseph Church, 1303 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will be private.
