Judith A.
Lancaster
Jun 25, 1947 — Apr 16, 2026
Cumberland
Judith A. (Kaplan) Lancaster, age 78, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026.
She was the daughter of the late Stanley and Esther (Choquet) Kaplan.
Judy was born in Pawtucket, RI, on June 25, 1947, and spent her childhood in Cumberland, RI, and attended Cumberland Public Schools, graduating from Cumberland High School in 1966.
She married her husband, David D. Lancaster, on September 24, 1966, and they embarked on nearly 60 years of marriage.
Judy resided in Cumberland for most of her life, and was a long-time resident of Sebastian, FL, before permanently returning to Cumberland in 2021.
She worked as a Unit Manager at Rhode Island Hospital after graduating from Cumberland High School, and also had several positions in the retail industry. Lastly, she worked for Home Instead Senior Care in Indian River County, FL, before retiring in 2002. Through these roles, Judy lived out her faith and service to God and to others.
Judy led a virtuous life and was a devout Catholic, living by her faith every day. As a child and young adult, she was a parishioner at Saint Patrick Parish on Broad Street in Cumberland. She raised her children at Saint John Vianney in Cumberland and was a CCD teacher for the parish. Judy found comfort in Christ, and she now rests in eternal peace in heaven.
Judy was a kind soul with a big heart and was known for being a generous hostess, always making her guests feel comfortable and at home. More than anything, she cherished spending time with her family and friends. She especially loved seeing her five grandchildren and shared a unique bond with each. She led her children and grandchildren by example, showing them how to love others and love each other through heartfelt acts of kindness.
She is survived by her son, David K. Lancaster and his wife, Lisa of Attleboro, MA, her daughter, Jennifer R. Lancaster of Dallas, NC, and her five grandchildren Meaghan, Joshua, Jacob, Kathryn, and Bridget Lancaster. She was the sister of John J. Kaplan and his wife Audrey of Safety Harbor, FL. She was predeceased by her brother-in-law Russell C. Lancaster and is survived by her sister-in-law Nancy R. Lancaster of Smithfield, RI. 02904
