PAWTUCKET

BENTO, Judith (Monteiro) formerly of Pawtucket, passed away on December 12, 2022 at the Miriam Hospital, Providence. She was the wife of the late Lawrence Bento.

Born in Husdon, MA, she was the daughter of the late Joao and Maria (Moitoso) Monteiro. She resided in Coventry for the past year and a half, previously residing in Richmond, Tiverton and Pawtucket.

She was a 1950 graduate of the Cumberland High School.

Mrs. Bento was employed as Paralegal for various area law firms in the area. She also was a medical secretary for Dr. Khalil Shekarchi for many years.

Judy as she was affectionately known, will be remembered for her outgoing and social personality. She enjoyed crocheting, spending time and playing cards at the Richmond Senior Center and the Brookdale Assisted Living Center.

She leaves her son, Leonard Bento and his wife Denise of Coventry, her five grandchildren, Erika Iafrate, Jillian Nickerson, Jennifer Lawson, Erin Escobar and Leonard Bento Jr.; her seven great-grandchildren, Jordan Nickerson, Jackson Nickerson, Michael Iafrate, Nicholas Iafrate, Ginger Cipalone, Thomas Iafrate and Maurice Escobar; her sister, Theresa Aragao; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Lawrence Bento Jr. and sister of the late Amelia Benway.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Judy's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Sunday, December 18, 2022 from 1 PM to 4 PM and continue on Monday, December 19, 2022 at 10 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A prayer service will be held at 11 AM. Burial will follow at the RI Veteran Cemetery, Exeter at 12:30 PM.
