Joseph F.
"Joey" Nield Jr.
Apr 22, 1993 — Jun 15, 2025
Cumberland
Joseph F. "Joey" Nield Jr., 32, of Cumberland RI, passed away on June 15, surrounded by his loving family at the Yale New Haven Hospital, New Haven, CT. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, loyalty, and love.
Joey found comfort in the outdoors. He loved fishing, camping, boating and golfing. He always looked forward to his next adventure with "The Boys".
He worked as a crane operator and professional sign installer for over 12 years. He took deep pride in his craft.
A lifelong Boston sports fan, Joey could always be spotted with a baseball hat, sunglasses, and a thumbs up.
It is hard to capture who Joey was with just a few words. He was deeply loving, endlessly generous, and the kind of person who gave everything to his friends and family without ever expecting anything in return. Joey was, simply put, one of the best.
Joey is survived by his loving parents Joseph F. and Karen A. (Mooney) Nield. His paternal grandmother, Eunice Nield of Lincoln, and Grandma Allie Nield of New Jersey. His aunts and uncles: Steven and Joyce Mooney, Linda and Dennis Malloy III, and Karen and Michael Kinch all of Cumberland. David and Jana Mooney of Foster, Lori and Denis Riel of Tampa, FL., along with his cousins who he considered his siblings: Michael and Tyler Kinch, Mackenzie, Mary, and Dennis Malloy IV, and Steven Mooney, Mason, and Taylor Mooney and Garrett, Craig, and Jimmy Riel. He is also survived by many extended family members and close friends who will never forget his heart. Joey was deeply loved, and he will be missed beyond measure. He was the grandson of the late: Gerald and Joan Mooney, Joseph G. Nield Jr., and nephew of the late Susan Mooney and Lynda Nield.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Joey's Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours on Sunday, June 22, 2025 from 12 PM to 3 PM, followed by a Prayer Service at 3 PM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. Burial will be private.
In honor of Joey's life and generous spirit, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the New England Donor Services, 60 First Avenue Waltham, MA 02451-1106.
