Joseph P. Cunha, 84, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving family in the Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Beatriz M. (Menezes) Cunha, they have been married for the past 49 years.

Born in Povoa de Varzim, Portugal, he was the son of the late Joao Gomes Cunha and Maria Cunha. He came to this country in 1980, settling in Warren and eventually making Cumberland his family home.

Joe was an avid Sporting CP soccer fan, but cherished his time spent with his family.

He was a baker employed by Calise & Sons Bakery for 29 years until his retirement in 2013.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter, Silvia Barnett and his son Daniel M. Cunha both of Cumberland. His two grandchildren: Mason J. Barnett and Morgan M. Barnett of Cumberland, one brother Osvaldo Cunha of Portugal along with nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Joseph's Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM, with a Prayer Service at 7 PM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. Burial will take place in Private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center, 1085 North Main Street Providence, RI 02904.
