Jose
Vicente
Apr 27, 1935 — Sep 23, 2024
Cumberland
Jose Vicente, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2024, at the age of 89 at Miriam Hospital, surrounded by his devoted wife and loving children. He was the cherished husband of Maria Helena Vicente, to whom he was married for 65 years, and an adored father to his son, Jose A. Vicente, and his wife, Sharyn Vicente, and to his daughter, Helena Almeida, and her husband, Jose Almeida. Born in Abogoes, Portugal, Jose was the son of the late Antonio and Adozinha Vicente. He was predeceased by his brother, Antonio Vicente.
Jose emigrated to America in 1960 with Maria to forge a brighter future for their family. Their unwavering dedication to one another and their children exemplified the love that guided Jose throughout his life. Together, they built a home with a foundation rooted in faith, love, hard work, and tradition—values his children continue to embody and instill today. Settling in Cumberland, Rhode Island, Jose worked and retired from Standard Nut and Bolt.
Jose's pride and joy were his grandchildren: Kaitlyn Vicente, Alyssa Miosky and her husband, Benjamin Miosky, Nickolas Vicente, Krysta Almeida, and Joseph Almeida. He took immense pride in their accomplishments and looked forward to the time spent together. A true lover of life, Jose found peace in nature. He was an avid fisherman, often spending long hours on the water. For years, he nurtured a beautiful garden and cared for his beloved doves and pigeons, finding solace in their companionship. His passion for homemade Portuguese wines was matched only by his love for the Benfica soccer team; he never missed a game and celebrated each match with the same fervor he brought to every aspect of his life. A longtime member of the Lusitana Clube, Jose coached soccer in his youth.
Jose was a fighter who demonstrated a resilience that inspired all who knew him. His legacy of strength is a testament to the life he built for his family.
