PAWTUCKET

FERREIRA, Jose, 72, of Pawtucket, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2022 at Hope Health in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Lucila (Henriques) Ferreira and they had been married for the past 43 years.

Born in Mira de Aire, Portugal, he was the son of the late Fernando and Maria Ferreira. He moved to this country in 1974, settling in Pawtucket.

Mr. Ferreira was employed as Receiver for the Peterson Puritan Company for almost 30 years until his retirement. He was previously employed as an ESL teacher at the East Providence High School for over 5 years. In addition he was a private Portuguese tutor for many years.

Jose enjoyed watching soccer, and was a dedicated and passionate Benfica fan, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife and friends.

In addition to his wife; he leaves his three brother-in-laws, two nieces, a nephew, as well as many cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Jose's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM in the St. Teresa of the Child Jesus Parish, Newport Avenue, Pawtucket. Burial will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.
