PAWTUCKET
Jose A. Benevides, 71, of Pawtucket, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at the Miriam Hospital, Providence surrounded by his loving family.   He was the beloved husband of Maria E. (Cordeiro) Benevides and they had been married for the past 46 years.

Born in Acores, Portugal, he was the son of the late Jose and Luisa (Amaral) Benevides.  He moved to this country in 1977, settling in Central Falls where he resided for most of his life, most recently residing in Pawtucket.

Mr. Benevides was a Machine Operator for the former Union Wadding in Pawtucket for over 30 years.

Jose was a dedicated and passionate Benfica fan.   He enjoyed watching action movies, playing SUECA, but most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, Jeffrey M. Benevides and his wife Alexandra of Cumberland, Jennifer M. St.Pierre and her husband Phillip of Cumberland; his sisters, Margarida Benevides, Leonilde Martins,  Fatima Benevides and Eduarda Carvalho.  He also leaves his cherished grandchildren, Anthony Benevides, Zachary St.Pierre, Giovanni Benevides, Xavier St.Pierre and Aliyah St.Pierre; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Jose's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Friday, November 3, 2023 from 5 to 8 PM and continue on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 9 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland.  Burial will follow at Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket.
