John H. Tweedie, 64, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at home. He was the husband of Patricia (Lynch) Tweedie. They have been married for the past 33 years.

Born in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of Mary T. (McCarthy) Tweedie of Cumberland, and the late Francis H. Tweedie. John was a lifelong resident of Cumberland.

John was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer.
He was also formerly a longtime volunteer with the former Berkley Fire  and Cumberland Fire District, Cumberland. He was an assistant Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 1, Cumberland Hill for many years, a lifetime member of the NRA, Cumberland Beagle Club, and the Cercle Laurier Club, Woonsocket. John was a member of the RI Truckers Association.

John was a selfless man always helping others before himself, and cherished his family and friends deeply.

He was a District Operations Manager for Penske Truck Leasing Cranston formerly AMI Leasing, Worcester for 35 years. He was previously employed by Colony Ford, Warwick, Champs Auto Body, Central Falls, Theriens LLC, Cumberland.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his son Cory A. Tweedie and his wife Jennifer of Kingsland, GA.,  and his cherished grandson Benjamin C. Tweedie. He leaves his brothers and sisters: Eileen F. Tweedie, Anne T.Wildgoose (Joseph), Grace Menard (Jean), Kathleen E. Lessard(William), Jeanmarie Leach (Michael), Carol L. Crossland (Mark), Francis X. Tweedie (Laurie), Timothy A. Tweedie and Richard T. Tweedie (Lorie Gill) all of Cumberland. His brother-in-law Terry Lynch (Dena DiSano) of Narragansett, his sister-in-law Colleen Bodziony  (Kurt) of South Kingstown and Maureen Gauthier (Tom) of North Kingstown, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was the father of the late Benjamin F. Tweedie and brother of the late Mary Alice Tweedie, and Barbara A. Bouvier, .

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to John's Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours to be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, from 4 to 7 PM and continuing on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at 8:30 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM in the Historic St. Joseph Church, 1303 Mendon Road Cumberland. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's memory to the Narragansett Council Scouting of America, 223 Scituate Avenue, Cranston, RI 02921.
