John M. Pereira, 68, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Isabel (Neves) Pereira. They have been married for the past 48 years.

Born in San Miguel, Azores, he was the son of the late Antonio and Geraldina (Cabral) Pereira. John came the United States in 1965 settling in the Fox Point section of Providence. He has resided in Cumberland for the past 30 years.

An avid antique  and classic car enthusiast. He also enjoyed camping, often spending weekends outdoors with family, where he found peace and joy in nature. In the 80's and '90s, he worked as a DJ, sharing his love for music and creating lasting memories for all who attended his events. He loved nothing more than to be with his grandchildren.

He was employed as a machinist, employed by Pentair Company, Warwick for 25 years until his retirement. He also formerly worked for the FRAM Corporation until the company moved out of the country.

He was a member of the Holy Ghost Church for over 15 years. He was also a member of Amigos da Terceira, of Portugal.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons: Neil Pereira of Cumberland and Ryan Pereira and his wife Mareli of Cumberland. His three grandchildren: Ariana, Adrian, and Mason Pereira. One niece, Monica McGraw, his brother-in-law, Artur Cesar both of East Providence.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to John's Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 4 PM to 7 PM and continuing on Saturday, January 4, 2025, 9:30 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM in Holy Rosary Church, 21 Traverse Street Providence. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.
