AVON, CT

DEVIN, John R., 81, formerly of Avon, CT and Old Lyme, CT, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 in the Grandview Center, Cumberland.

Born in Springfield, MA he was the son of the late Alfred and Marjorie (Ross) Devin. He resided in Woodbury and Avon, CT for most of his life.

Mr. Devin was employed as the former Vice President of Marketing for Emhart, Black and Decker Inc. for many years and previously Schlage Inc.

Jack had tremendous strength and will to live in the face of his diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease many years ago. He had the gift of humor and loved to tease. In his younger years, he enjoyed gardening and was involved with Boy Scouts. He most enjoyed his peaceful retreat in Pembroke, Maine, and participating in his children's sporting events and accomplishments.

His strong faith not only was the beacon in his life, but his love of Jesus Christ was passed down to other generations and that for that, we are so grateful. He created many memories that will endure forever, and he will be greatly missed.

He leaves his daughter, Johna Cutlip of Cumberland; his sons, Chuck Devin and his wife Jennifer of Naples, FL, Bill Devin and his wife Nicole of Blanford, MA, and Jamie Devin and his wife Monica of Davie, FL; his three brothers, Tom Devin and his wife Susan of Burbank, CA, Bob Devin and his wife Susan of Reno, NV and Peter Devin and his wife, Katie of Southington, CT; eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

His celebration of life will be held privately at his favorite place, Blue Beach.
