John R.
Clegg
Dec 19, 1953 — Apr 24, 2024
Pawtucket
PAWTUCKET
John "Jack" R. Clegg, 70, of Pawtucket, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was the husband of Lori (Marchese) Clegg, and they had been married for the past 42 years.
Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late John and Agnes (Anyon) Clegg. He was a lifelong resident of Pawtucket.
Mr. Clegg was employed as a Station Manager for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 2021. He was the co-owner, with his wife Lori of Children's Orchard in Seekonk, MA for the last 18 years.
Jack, as he was affectionately known, loved playing golf, going for a swim, and taking trips to New Hampshire. Coaching his son's basketball and baseball teams was a significant part of his life, as was his involvement in Boy Scouts—he was even an Eagle Scout himself. But what really made him happy was spending time with his grandson, Ryan.
In addition to his beloved wife, he leaves his son Christopher Clegg and his wife Jenna of Smithfield; his grandson Ryan Clegg; his sister and brother-in-law, Marc and Lisa Moreau of Narragansett; his brother-in-law, Stephen Marchese and his wife Lyn of Pawtucket; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Maureen Kostka and Janice Clegg.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Jack's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Monday, April 29, 2024, from 4 to 7 PM and continue on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 9 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 AM at Historic St. Joseph Church, Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow in the Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Ave., Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.
