John C. Arundale, 78, of Cumberland, formerly of Pawtucket, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2023, at home. He was the husband of Edna (Mularz) Arundale, and they had been married for the past 55 years.
Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Edwin and Rose (Donnelly) Arundale. He resided in Cumberland for the past year, previously residing in Pawtucket.
John was a United States Navy Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War era. He was stationed aboard the USS Damato.
Mr. Arundale was employed as a Shipping and Receiving Controller for the former Brooks Drug Distribution Center in Pawtucket for over 20 years. He was also employed by Kendall Inc. for 15 years.
John, a man of many passions and talents, recently poured his heart into crafting model ships, including a remarkable coast guard cutter for his cherished grandson. In his youth, he reveled in bike rides, trekked through Appalachian trails, was in the ABT Bowling league, and played softball. Alongside his two brothers, he embarked on numerous building projects. His pride in serving the country was evident to all. Those who loved him will forever cherish his sharp wit and, above all, his unwavering dedication to family.
In addition to his beloved wife, he leaves two daughters, Suzanne Arundale of Nashua, NH, and Trisha Whalen of Attleboro, MA; his son, John Arundale Jr., and his wife Marriane of Cummings, GA; his siblings, Harry Arundale, Gilbert Arundale, Michael Arundale, Kevin Arundale, and Rosemary Joy; his four grandchildren, Jonathan, Thomas, Matthew, and Jackson; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late William Arundale, Edwin Arundale, Florence Greaves, and Patricia Fagundes.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to John's Life Celebration to be held with a Visitation on Monday, July 31, 2023, from 4 to 7 PM and continue on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at 9:30 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM in the St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Parish, Newport Avenue, Pawtucket. Burial with military honors will follow at the RI Veteran Cemetery, Exeter.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Little Sisters of the Poor, Jeanne Jugan Residence, 964 Main St, Pawtucket, RI 02860.
