Joan F. Mooney, 84, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, in The Holiday Retirement Home, Manville. She was the wife of the late LeRoy Mooney.

Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Dorothy (Justice) Faunce.

She resided in Cumberland for the past 58 years, previously residing in Central Falls.

Joan enjoyed reading, bingo, and spending time with family. Known for her humor and quick wit, she loved to bring laughter to those around her. These simple pleasures and her light-hearted nature brought joy to her life and to others. Joan will be remembered fondly by those who knew her. She was always there for others, whether to lend a hand or answer questions and giving advice.

She is survived by her daughter Kathleen M. Mitchell and her husband Albert of Cumberland. Her sisters Claire O'Neill of Pawtucket and Judy Rott of Pawtucket and her brother Arthur Faunce of Connecticut. Her two grandchildren: Erin Mitchell of Woonsocket, and Bethany Peloquin of St. Augustine, FL, her great-grandchild, Raven along with several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Christine A. Mooney and sister of the late James Faunce, and Edward Faunce.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Joan's Life Celebration to be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 4 PM to 7 PM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A prayer service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, in the funeral home at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.
