CUMBERLAND

Jean D. Palmer, 83, of Cumberland passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Rhode Island Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family.  She was the beloved wife of Leon M. Palmer Sr. and they had been married for the past 50 years.

Born in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Cornelius and Eva (St. Onge) Crowley Sr.  She resided in Lincoln for many years, later moving to Cumberland.

Mrs. Palmer was a longtime employee of Bachman's Food Service and later an Employee of Plastics Plus until her retirement in 1995. She was a former member of Local 348 - Bakers Union.

She found joy in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She enjoyed reading, and  making flower arrangements for St. John Cemetery.

In addition to her husband, she leaves her children,  Leon M. Palmer Jr. of Cranston, Gary F. DeCorte Jr. and his wife Tracy of North Providence, David A. Palmer of Warwick, Lisa M. Cater of Seattle, WA,  and Paul M. DeCorte and his wife Melinda of North Providence; her siblings, David Crowley and his wife Sandra of Cumberland; her nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.   She was the sister of the late Arthur Crowley, James Crowley, Cornelius Crowley, Clarence Crowley, Richard Crowley, Elizabeth Crowe, Beverly Dubois, Beatrice Vincent, Shirley Robertson, Doris Mollis, and Gertrude Lallier.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Jean's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Monday, May 19, 2025 from 4 to 7 PM and continue on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at 10 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland.  A prayer service will be held at 11 AM.  Burial will follow in the Historic St. John Cemetery, Cumberland.
