Janet I.
Berry
May 2, 1945 — May 16, 2025
Cumberland
Janet I. Berry, 80, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025, in Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro.
Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Edward B. and Irene (Bernier) Lavallee. Janet resided in Cumberland for most of her life.
A beloved and cherished presence, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life—whether perfecting her golf swing on the greens, crafting beautiful pieces through crochet and knitting, or gathering around the table for a friendly game of cribbage. She delighted in the art of cooking and baking, filling her home with warmth and the delicious aroma of meals made with love. Her days were enriched by the laughter and companionship of dear friends, whose presence brought even more light into her life. She especially treasured the festive spirit and anticipation leading up to Christmas, finding joy in the preparations that made the holiday season magical. But above all, she valued every moment spent with her family, creating lasting memories that will be held close forever. Her kindness, passion, and unwavering devotion to those she loved will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.
She was employed as an office manager for the former Providence Yarn Company for many years until her retirement. She was also employed for the former Bridal and Gift Co. She was also previously employed for the State of RI, Division of Motor Vehicles for many years.
She is survived by her daughter Donna M. Pratt and her husband Michael of Cumberland. Two grandchildren Caitlyn Pratt and Alexander Pratt both of Cumberland. Her nieces Pamela Akgun, Dawn Florenz, Maura Morenzi, and Stephanie Pichette, along with several great nieces and nephews. Janet is also survived by her companion John Mallia. She was the sister of the late Maureen Yankee, Robert Lavallee, Joan Valaitis, and Bernard Lavallee.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Janet's Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 4 PM to 7 PM and continuing at 9 AM on Thursday, May 22, 2025, in the J.
