James F. Hollis Sr., 92, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024, in The Friendly Home, Woonsocket surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Joan B. (LaRose) Hollis.

Born in Central falls, he was the son of the late Walter R. and Dulcina (Russeau) Hollis Sr. He resided in Cumberland for more than 55 years, previously residing in Central Falls.

He was a longtime communicant of St. Aidan Church, Cumberland.

Jim dedicated his life to three fundamental priorities: family, country, and faith. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1951 to 1972, courageously fighting in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Rising to the rank of Captain through his unwavering dedication and bravery, Jim exemplified the Marine Corps' core values of honor, courage, and commitment. His deep devotion to his family, steadfast faith, and tireless service to his country stand as a lasting legacy of sacrifice, leadership, and love for those closest to him, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his ten grandchildren.

He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association serving as the secretary and treasurer and also a member of the Pawtucket Veterans Council, serving as a Past President and Treasurer.

He is survived by his children: James F. Hollis Jr., and his wife Janelle of North Smithfield, Stephen M. Hollis and his wife Sue of Rehoboth MA., Joanne Tranghese and her husband Tom of Cranston, Catherine Moran of Coventry, and Carol Berthiaume and her husband Robert of Chepachet. His ten grandchildren: Meagan, Sarah, Andrew, Katie, Stephen, Tori, Alex, David, Cole, and Kerrin. His sister-in-law, Cheryl Mefford, along with several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Walter R. Hollis Jr., Norma Arundale, and Marilyn Kryla.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Jim's Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 9 AM to 10:30 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM in the St. Aidan-St. Patrick Parish, 1464 Diamond Hill Road Cumberland. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.
