Cumberland,

Horace Vern Pereira, 90, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, in the Greenville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was the husband of Rosalin (Lawrence) Pereira. They have been married for the past 60 years.

Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Manuel and Mary (Vincent) Pereira. Horace resided in Cumberland for the past 53 years, previously residing in Central Falls.

He was a US Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean War.
He was a member and past commander of the American Legion Post 14, Cumberland, United Auto Workers Union, Local 422, Framingham.  Member and past president of St. Aidan Seniors, and St. Patrick Seniors of Cumberland.  A member and past president of the Cumberland Veterans Council, and the Woonsocket Elks Lodge 850. He was also a volunteer at the former Memorial Hospital, Pawtucket for more than 16 years and the Cumberland Senior Center for many years.

Horace was employed at the General Motors Assembly Plant in Framingham for more than 30 years until his retirement in 1991.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons: Thomas Pereira of Boston, and Craig Pereira and his wife Kristin of North Kingstown. His sister: Irene Vincent of South Attleboro and two brothers: Jack Pereira of California and Richard Pereira of South Attleboro. His four grandchildren: Alexander, Nicholas, Andrew, their mother Donna Pereira and grandson Henry Pereira, along with many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late: Augustine Pereira, Matthew Pereira, Gilbert Pereira, Alice Lemos, and Laura Lemos.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Horace's Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours on Sunday, June 9, 2024, from 5 PM to 7 PM and continuing Monday, June 10, 2024, at 9 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM in St. Aidan-St. Patrick Church, 1460 Diamond Hill Road Cumberland. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
