NORTH PROVIDENCE

Hector Sader Velez, 59, of North Providence, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024 at the Miriam Hospital Providence.  He was the husband of Luz Dary (Jaramillo) Velez, and they had been married for the past 22 years.

Born in Medellin, Colombia, he moved to this country in 1987, settling in Central Falls and later residing in North Providence and Pawtucket.  He was the son of Hector Velez of Colombia and the late Barbara (Gil) Velez.

Mr. Velez also known as "El Inquieto" was a vibrant and passionate MC for Latina 100.3. His career also included many years as a lawn sprinkler installer with Yard Works Inc. Additionally, he proudly ran his own personal radio station, La Tocata Rumbera, from his home. Mr. Velez's true passion was using his voice to bring joy to his listeners through music, storytelling, and humor. A dedicated advocate for the Latin community, he collaborated with numerous organizations, becoming the voice of many festivals and community events. Beloved by all who knew him, Mr. Velez's presence will be deeply missed.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, Jonathan Velez and his wife Fiorella Castillo-Velez, Natalie Velez, Luisa Zapata, Andres Felipe Velez and Sebastian Velez; his brothers, Nelson Velez, Henry Velez, and  Hernan Velez; his grandchildren, Adrien Perez, Mateo Velez, and Ariana Velez; as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Hector's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 from 5 to 8 PM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland.  A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM.
