CUMBERLAND

George B. Rita, 67, of Cumberland passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at home surrounded by the love of his family.  He was the husband of Gloria F. (Cardarelli) Rita, and they had been married for the past 42 years.

Born in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Antonio and Virginia (Baptista) Rita.  He was a life-long resident of Cumberland.

Mr. Rita was employed as Fork Lift Operator for the OSRAM-Sylvania in Central Falls for 37 years.

George enjoyed Drag Racing and attending car shows.  He was an avid collector of die-cast cars and hot rod memorabilia, but most of all he loved time spent with family and friends.

In addition to his beloved wife, he leaves his children, Robert Beaudry of Cumberland, and Robin Irving and her husband Scott of Warwick; his four grandchildren, Thomas Beaudry, Deklan Irving, Julianna Beaudry, and Dawson Beaudry; his sister-in-laws and his brother-in-laws; as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his brother, Gabriel Rita.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to George's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Monday, July 28, 2025 from 4 to 7 PM  and continue on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at 10 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland.  A prayer service will be held at 11 AM.  Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Hope Health Hospice, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 or to the Hotel for Homeless Dogs, 44 Martin Street, Cumberland, RI 02864.
