CUMBERLAND

Frances A. Nelson, 80, of Cumberland passed away on April 27, 2024 at the Holiday Retirement Home, Manville.   She was the wife of the late Gary P. Nelson of North Attleboro, MA.

Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Pauline (Kozubal) Shea.

Mrs. Nelson was Accounts Payable Supervisor for Ann and Hope Stores Inc. for many years. Her coworkers were a second family to her.

Frannie was a devoted Red Sox fan and a great fan of Neil Diamond long before "Sweet Caroline" was associated with Fenway Park.  She was a formidable High-Low-Jack card player and loved to win.  She was a wonderful cook.  She entertained family and friends at her cottage at Roy Carpenter's Beach in Matunuck for over thirty summers.

She leaves her son Shea Curtis Nelson of Newport; her two sisters, Mary Amaral of Smithfield and Barbara Pinto of Cumberland; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Fred Shea and Raymond Shea.

Her funeral and burial will be private.
