CUMBERLAND

Fernando Tavares Gaspar, 91, of Cumberland passed away on June 15, 2026 at home surrounded by the love of his family.  He was the husband of the late Suzette (DeGraca) Gaspar.

Born in S. Paio, Portugal he was the son of the late Antonio and Teresa (Azevedo) Gaspar.  He moved to Switzerland and resided there for seven years before moving to the United States in 1970, settling in Pawtucket.

Mr. Gaspar was a factory worker for many years until his retirement.

Fernando enjoyed fishing, playing cards with his friends at the Lusitana Club where he was a member for many years, and gardening, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.  He was a dedicated soccer fan and played soccer in his youth. He had a passion for his team, Sporting Soccer Club.   He was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland.

He leaves his two children, Luis Gaspar and his wife Palmira of Cumberland and Ana Gaspar Pacheco and her husband Michael of Cumberland; his four grandchildren Ashley, Michael, Amanda and Jason; his great-grandchildren, Nolan, Briley, Alana, Camila, and Liam;  as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was the brother of the late Manuel Gaspar and Deolinda Santos.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Fernando's Life Celebration to be held with Visitation on Friday, June 19, 2026 from 8-10:30 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland.  Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.
