CUMBERLAND

Fernando Almeida, 78, of Cumberland passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at the Miriam Hospital, Providence.   He was the husband of the late Maria "Celeste" (Francisco) Almeida and they had been married for over 35 years.

Born in Vila Franca da Beira, Portugal, he resided in Cumberland from many years after moving from Portugal.

Mr. Almeida was the owner of Valley Floor Covering for many years until his retirement.

Fernando was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church.  He was a member of the Lusitana Club, enjoyed playing cards, but most of all loved spending time with family and friends.

He leaves his two sons, Marco Almeida of Cumberland, and Rui Almeida of Cumberland; his two grandchildren, Olivia and Brayden Almeida; his sister, Maria Helena Goncalves of Portugal; as well as his niece, Ani Silva and his nephew Rui Goncalves.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Fernando's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 from 4 to 8 PM and continue on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 10 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberalnd.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland.  Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
