Ernest R. Borden Jr., 90, of Attleboro, formerly of Framingham, MA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Sturdy Memorial Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Gail F. (Prior) Borden, with whom he shared sixty-five years of love, devotion, and partnership. In keeping with his wishes, a joint memorial service will be held to honor both Ernest and Gail, and they will be laid to rest together, side by side, just as they lived their lives.
Born in Portsmouth, RI, Ernest was the son of the late Ernest and Annie (Gomes) Borden Sr. He had made his home in Attleboro for the past 15 years, residing with his daughter and son-in-law.A proud veteran, Mr. Borden served honorably in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict.
Following his military service, he attended Wentworth Institute and became a licensed electrician. He went on to enjoy a long and fulfilling career as a Master Electrician at Raytheon Inc., where he worked for over 40 years before his retirement.
Ernest was a dedicated member of several HAM radio clubs and a proud Master Mason. He and Gail shared a love for travel and spent many winters together in Clearwater, FL. Among his greatest joys were camping adventures with Gail and quality time spent with his family, who brought him endless pride and happiness.
He is survived by his loving children: Ann Oliver and her husband Edward of Attleboro, and Ernest R. Borden III and his wife Ellen of Goleta, CA. He also leaves behind his brother, Edward Borden of Portsmouth, RI; four cherished grandchildren: Edward Oliver III, Kelly Oliver Bopp, Nicole Borden, and Karyna Borden; and his great-grandchildren: Ethen Bopp, Callan Oliver, Brooks Oliver, and Raelin Bopp. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are warmly invited to celebrate the lives of Ernest and Gail Borden at a joint Life Celebration to be held on Sunday, July 27, 2025, with Visiting Hours from 11 AM to 1 PM and a Prayer Service at 12:30 PM. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ernest's memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
