Ellen A. (Knight) Schwab, 75, of Cumberland, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the wife of Robert P. Schwab Sr., and they had been happily married for the past 55 years.
Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Ann (McCann) Knight. She resided in Cumberland for most of her life.
Mrs. Schwab devoted numerous years to her distinguished career as a Registered Nurse at Woonsocket Hospital and VNS Hospice. Her unwavering dedication and compassionate care left an indelible mark on countless lives. She will be fondly remembered by colleagues and patients alike for her extraordinary service and commitment to nursing excellence.
Ellen was a communicant of the Historic St. Joseph Church, Cumberland. She enjoyed playing cards and BINGO, but most of all, she loved spending time with her beloved family.
In addition to her husband, she leaves her children, Robert P. Schwab Jr. and his wife, Tina, of Attleboro, MA; Karen A. Schwab of Cumberland; James M. Schwab and his wife, Erin, of Pawtucket; and Pamela E. Biron and her husband, Paul, of Pawtucket. She is also survived by her brothers, Joseph Knight of Pawtucket and John Knight of East Providence; her six grandchildren, Ashley, Colin, Duncan, Aiden, James Jr., and Baron; her great-granddaughter, Lola; as well as several beloved nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Carol McGill and Edward Knight.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Ellen's Life Celebration, to be held with Visiting Hours on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, from 5 to 8 PM, and continuing on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 9 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM in the Historic St. Joseph Church, Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the American Heart Association, 1 State St., Unit 200, Providence, RI 02908.
