Elisa Marques, 98, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, in the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Pedro R. Marques.

Born in Darei, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Abel Augusto and Maria (Saraiva) DeSousa. Elisa came to this country in 1967, settling in Cumberland with her husband.

She loved cooking and tending to her flower and vegetable garden where she would spend hours caring for her plants.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland.

She was employed as a machine operator for the former Peterson Puritan in Cumberland for many years until her retirement.

She is survived by her daughter, Maria Celeste DaCruz and her husband Augusto of Cumberland; her grandson, Nuno DaCruz and his wife Leslie of Cumberland; and her two great-grandchildren, Christian and Madeline. She is also survived by her four sisters: Piedade, Cacilda, and Ana all of Portugal; Beatriz Saraiva and her husband Adelino of Cumberland; her nephew, Victor Saraiva and his wife Darlene of Chepachet and their three children Stephanie, Derek and Jacob; nieces, Graca and Beta, both of Portugal; and nephew Daniel Martins of Florida.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Elisa's Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours on Friday, January 5, 2024, from 4 PM to 7 PM and continuing on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 9 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1 Fatima Drive, Cumberland. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.
