JOHNSTON

Eleanor Cipriano (Paolino), 95, of Johnston, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023 at the Roger Williams Medical Center, Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard Cipriano.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Maria (Miele) Paolino. She resided in Johnston for most of her life.

Mrs. Cipriano was employed as a key punch operator for the State of Rhode Island, Division of Motor Vehicles for over 24 years until her retirement.

Eleanor enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing BINGO, and also enjoyed an occasional trip to the Casino to play the slots. She was a dedicated and passionate New England Patriots and Tom Brady fan. Those who love her will remember her sharp wit, even as she got older, as well as the love she shared with her family.

She leaves her beloved daughter, Diane Fernandes of Taunton, MA; her son-in-law, James Scialdone of Cumberland; her sister-in-law, Rosemarie Joubert and her husband Raymond of Johnston; her five grandchildren, Trisha Fernandes, Steven Fernandes II and his wife Kristina, Christopher Fernandes, Erika Waldron and her husband Shane, and James Scialdone; her great grandchildren, Connor Boyd and Steven Fernandes III and Arya Waldron. She will be fondly remembered by her friends Harlene,  Gloria, Debbie and Margaret and Janet; several nieces and one nephew as well as many great neighbors.    She was the mother of the late Patricia Scialdone, sister of the late Shirley Dugan, mother in law of the late Steven M. Fernandes and great-grandmother of the late Kaleb Boyd.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Eleanor's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Monday, March 27, 2023 from 9 to 10 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM in the St. John Vianney Church, Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland, RI. Burial will follow at the Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
