Eleanor A. (Cady) Bowes, 94, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at The Miriam Hospital in Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert E. Bowes Sr.

Born in Providence, on September 11, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Olga A. (Kosinski) Cady and Wilfred P. Cady . Eleanor was a resident of Cumberland for over 60 years, previously residing in Pawtucket. She was the oldest of thirteen siblings.

Eleanor was employed as a CNA and Medical Records Clerk for many years at Notre Dame Hospital and Memorial Hospital prior to her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Aidan-St. Patrick Parish.

Eleanor was an active member of Cumberland Crime Stoppers and volunteered at the Cumberland Senior Center. She was also a proud member of the Red Hatters and the Valley Singers.

She leaves her children, Deborah Bowes-Smyth and her husband Cliff of San Francisco, Karen Schenck and her husband Larry of Cumberland, and Robert E. Bowes Jr. and his partner Cynthia McCord of Westerly. She was the cherished grandmother of seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Eleanor's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 4 to 7 PM and continue on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 10 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM in St Aidan-St Patrick Church, 1460 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 261 West Wrentham Road, Cumberland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
