Obituary

EAST GREENWICH

WIGGINS, Edward J., 74 of East Greenwich passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at the Rhode Island Hospital, Providence.  He was the husband of Helen A.  (Byrnes) Wiggins and they had been married for the past 53 years.

Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late James and Ruth (Mahon) Wiggins.  He resided in East Greenwich for the past 33 years.  He also spent the winter months in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Mr. Wiggins was a true entrepreneur, who had successfully built and sold many businesses over the past 40 years.  During that time, he was also a successful real estate investor and developer.  Those who knew him best, however, recognize his greatest achievement as being an incredible mentor and teacher to countless people.  He was always more than willing to share his knowledge, wisdom, support and un-filtered straight talk with anyone seeking his advice or help.

Ed as he was affectionately known, enjoyed sailing, basketball, sporting clays, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his two sons, Trevor Wiggins and his wife Lynne of East Greenwich and Kelly Wiggins and his wife Julie of Parkland, FL; his nephew, Raymond Brockmann of North Attleboro, MA; his sister, Beverly Bruno of West Warwick; his four grandchildren, Sean, Kyle, Alyson and Skylar.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Ed's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Sunday, November 14, 2021 from 1 to 4 PM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland, RI.   A prayer service will be held at 4 PM. The family will be hosting a dinner gathering for friends and family following the prayer service at Andrews Bistro on 3755 Mendon Road Cumberland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory and to that of his late niece, Christine Bruno to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 220 North Main Street Suite 104,Natick, MA 01760. https://www.cff.org/donate
