Normand Duquette, fondly known as "Duke," departed this world on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at the age of 91. A devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and great-grandfather, Duke's life was a testament to the values of love, family, and hard work.

Duke's journey began on June 7, 1932, when he was born to the late Philias and Leda (Pincince) Duquette in Central Falls, Rhode Island. He spent the majority of his life in Central Falls, where he forged deep connections within the community and left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Duke answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. He courageously served during the Korean War, a testament to his bravery and commitment to protecting the freedoms we hold dear.

On August 18, 1951, Duke's life was forever enriched when he married Marguerite M. (Baris) Duquette. Their love story spanned an incredible 72 years, a shining example of unwavering commitment and devotion that inspired all who encountered them.

Duke's professional journey was marked by dedication and skill. He served as a Mechanic and Service Manager for Steingold Pontiac before becoming an integral part of the Central Falls Glass Company, where he worked for many years until his well-deserved retirement.

Duke's spirit of service extended beyond his professional life. He was a former member of Notre Dame Church for many years and actively participated in various committees, contributing his time and expertise to better the lives of those around him. His reputation as a generous and talented handyman was well-known, as he selflessly shared his time and skills with friends, family, and neighbors.

Beyond his remarkable work ethic, Duke had a passion for craftsmanship. He was a skilled builder of model cars, ships, and planes, a hobby that brought him joy and allowed him to express his creative side.

Duke's legacy lives on through his loving children: Diane Field (Lenny), Robert Duquette (Kathi), Sharon Feather (Harry), Paul Duquette (Kerryann), Joann Tyler (William), Jeanne Lambert (Luc), John Duquette (Danielle), James Duquette, Jane Duquette (Joseph Chartier), Lori Duquette (Richard Antonelli), and Linda Duquette (David Compagnone). Duke's love and guidance helped shape each of their lives, fostering a strong bond that will continue to unite them.

He is also survived by his sibling, Camille Duquette (Pat) of Florida, and is preceded in death by his late siblings, Lucille Latraverse (Albert), Lucien Duquette (Cora), and Carmen Duquette.

Duke's legacy extends to his numerous grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and even a great-great-granddaughter, all of whom he loved deeply and adored. His impact on their lives will resonate through generations, leaving a legacy of love and wisdom that will guide them in the years to come.

Normand "Duke" Duquette's life was one of love, service, and dedication. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of those he touched.
