Donald "Don" Berard, 73, passed away on Thursday, December 1st at home, with his wife Donna and his beloved dog Phobe. He was married to the love of his life, Donna Crowell Berard for 52 years. Together they created a beautiful life full of love and laugher and a family which meant everything to him.
Born in Central Falls, Don was the son of the late Leo and Doris (Marcil Leveille) Berard. He resided in Cumberland for the past 45 years.
His pride and joy were his daughters. He was a coach for their teams and their biggest fan. He loved being a papa. He could talk to anyone about his grandsons. He loved to golf but wasn't afraid to admit he wasn't very good at it. His favorite place to relax was on the porch with a cold beer while listening to the Eagles. He loved his trips to Florida, his "happy place", where he enjoyed walking on the beach with Donna. He enjoyed traveling the world visiting places such as Italy, Ireland, Spain, and Alaska.
After his Navy tour, he worked as an industrial mechanic at Teknor Apex, Pawtucket. Before retiring he was the property manager at Agawam Hunt Country Club, East Providence.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughters: Lori Brewster and Amy (Alex) Coppola and his four grandchildren: Jason, Matthew, Nathan and Adam. His mother-in-law, Dorothy Crowell, Robert Berard (brother), Theresa (Berard) Routhier (sister), and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his dear brother, Leo Berard.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Don's Life Celebration to be held on Friday, December 9, 2022, from 4 PM to 7 PM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Cumberland. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 PM. Family and friends are invited on Saturday, December 10, 2022, to gather at J. J. Duffy Funeral Home at 8:30 AM and follow in procession for burial with military honors in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to VA Medical Center, Oncology Division, 830 Chalkstone Avenue Providence, RI 02908.
