Obituary

Diann Burns, 71, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence.

Born in Providence, she was the beloved daughter of the late Philip B. and Mary H. (Cotter) Burns. Diann made North Providence her home for the past 33 years, having previously resided in Providence.

Diann had a deep love for nature and found joy in gardening. She was known for her kindness and generosity, frequently supporting various charities, with a special passion for animal welfare. She cherished time spent at the beach, had a love for all things Irish, and enjoyed traveling along coastal destinations with her sister and niece. Diann will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.

She dedicated many years of service to the State of Rhode Island, working for the Contractors Registration and Licensing Board until her retirement.

She is survived by her sister, Jean Burns of North Providence, and her niece Laurie Tremblay of Woonsocket. She is also survived by her beloved cats Otis and Finn.

A service will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at 11:30 AM in the chapel at St. Ann Cemetery, 73 Church Street Cranston.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to your favorite animal charity.
