Obituary

Diane M. (Hobson) Fitzpatrick, 71, of Warwick, R.I. and Singer Island, FL, passed away at Massachusetts General Brigham Hospital on May 6, 2026.

She was born in Central Falls, R.I. on June 25, 1954, the daughter of George C. and Madeline M. (Carr) Hobson.

Diane is survived by her loving husband, Michael Fitzpatrick, her three children, Michael, Jr. (Jessica), Andrew (Rebecca) and Maureen. She was the beloved grandmother of Kiera, Tegan and Conor, and the cherished sister of Maureen A. Hobson.

Diane graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She went on to work at Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket as a critical care nurse in the ICU/CCU units.

In 1982 Diane began work at The Miriam Hospital, first as an ICU nurse, then as a nursing supervisor, and finally as a manager of Nursing Infomatics and manager of Nursing Resources, earning many credentials and certifications. Retiring from The Miriam after 30 years, she transferred her nursing and administrative skills to Kent County Hospital where she managed a number of units and performed discharge planning.

Diane loved traveling throughout Europe, sunny days in the pool in Florida, and 45 years of St. Patrick's Day at McSorley's Old Ale House in New York City. She will be remembered for her unmatched loyalty and generosity to family and friends, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

The family wishes to thank the nurses, doctors and staffs at The Miriam Hospital and Massachusetts General Brigham for her treatment and exceptional care over the past months.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Diane's Life Celebration to be held with Visitation on Friday, May 15, 2026 from 4 to 8 PM and continue on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 9 AM in the J. J.
