Obituary

Dennis Davenport passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on April 12, 2026. He was the son of late Iola and Raymond Davenport of Pawtucket.

Dennis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He shared a deep and enduring love with his wife, Katherine—whom he affectionately called "Katie." They were married for 51 years, building a life centered on family, loyalty, and quiet moments of joy.

He was a proud father to his two sons, Dennis Davenport Jr. and Mark Davenport. One of his greatest joys in life was spending time with his beloved grandson, Evan, whose presence brought him immense happiness and pride.

Dennis is also survived by his sister, Maureen Barber, with whom he shared a lifelong bond.

He served his country honorably in the United States Army, a role he carried with pride throughout his life.

Dennis was a dedicated and hardworking man who spent 30 years working for Verizon. He was also deeply involved in his union, serving as a union steward and Assistant Business Manager for IBEW Local 2323. He took great pride in his work and in advocating for those around him, reflecting his strong sense of responsibility and commitment.

He found peace and happiness in the simple pleasures—boating, casting a line, working in the yard, and spending time camping outdoors. He was known for his great sense of humor and his gift for storytelling, often sharing stories that brought laughter to those around him and made even the simplest moments memorable.

Above all, Dennis treasured time with his family, creating memories that will be held close for years to come.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Katherine "Katie" Davenport; his sons, Dennis Davenport Jr. and his wife, Sasha, and Mark Davenport; his grandson, Evan; and his sister, Maureen Barber.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Dennis's Life Celebration to begin with Visitation on Friday, April 17, 2026, from 9 AM to 11 am in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A prayer service will be held at 11 AM. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
