CUMBERLAND

Dennis Joseph Bankosky, 79, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, at Rhode Island Hospital surrounded by the love of his family. He was the beloved husband of Mary M. (Sprague) Bankosky, with whom he shared 35 years of marriage. They were united in matrimony on June 11, 1989, at Four Corners Church.

Born in Central Falls, he was the son of the late Anna (Antoscia) and William Bankosky. Dennis had been a proud resident of Cumberland since 1973.

A skilled and dedicated Master Electrician, he worked for many years at the Okonite Company. In retirement, Dennis found great fulfillment serving as a crossing guard for the Cumberland School Department at McCourt Middle School, a role he cherished for the past three years. He took immense pride in ensuring the safety of the children and deeply enjoyed his time with them.

An outdoorsman at heart, Dennis loved fishing, deer hunting, and spending time in nature. He was a kind, generous, and caring man, always willing to lend a helping hand. Known for his ability to fix almost anything, he was a true craftsman in both his trade and his personal life.  He also enjoyed traveling with his wife to Arizona, Bar Harbor, ME, Cape Cod, and fly fishing in Alaska.

Above all, Dennis was a devoted family man. He leaves behind his loving children: Karen A. Fagundes and her husband Joseph of Cranston, Ann M. MacCarthy and her husband Brian of Warwick, and Thomas J. Taylor and his wife Sandy of Central Falls. He was a proud grandfather to Sonya, Cassondra, Nicole, Alyssa, Joseph Jr., Samantha, Brian Jr., Kevin, Kyle, Devin, Amanda, and Curtis, as well as a cherished great-grandfather to Chloe, James, Noah Dennis, Winnie, Aaliyna, Skylah, Liam, and Ellie.  Dennis is also survived by his sister, Mary Christofaro "Sister Bell", and her husband Alfred of West Greenwich, along with his nephew, Michael Christofaro of Warwick.  He was predeceased by his brother, Rico Antoscia.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Dennis's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Thursday, April 3, 2025 from 5 to 7 PM and continue on Friday, April 4, 2025 at 10 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland.  A prayer service will be held at 11 AM in the funeral home.   Burial will follow at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.

Dennis' legacy of kindness, hard work, and love for family will be remembered always.
