Denis M. Silva, 89, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, November 28, 2024. He was the husband of Bernadette (Costa) Silva. They have been married for the past 67 years.

Born in Sao Miguel Portugal, he was the son of the late Jose V. and Emelia (Mello) Silva. He came to the United States in 1959, settling in Central Falls and then Cumberland.

He was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland, and also a member of the Clube Juventude Lusitana, Cumberland.

Denis was a passionate Benfica fan who never missed an opportunity to cheer for his favorite team. He also found great joy in watching the Boston Celtics and listening to the vibrant sounds of marching bands. A true lover of the outdoors, Denis cherished his time spent at the beach and fishing. Above all, his greatest happiness came from being with his family, especially his beloved great-granddaughters, who brought endless joy and warmth to his life.

He was employed as a foreman for the former Northeast Concrete, Plainville for 40 years, until his retirement.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his grandchildren: Derek Pereira and his wife Tara of Coventry, Kevin Pereira and his girlfriend Stephanie Morico of Lincoln. His two great-grand daughters: Camila and Kaia Pereira. His two sisters: Trindade Lacerda of Tewksury, MA., and Mary E. Silva of Central Falls. His son-in-law Manuel Pereira of Lincoln along with several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Urania M. Pereira and brother of the late Lidia Martin.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Denis' Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, from 4 - 7 PM and continuing on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 9 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1 Fatima Drive Cumberland. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.
