LAKE MARY, FLORIDA
Daniel F. Gribbin, 77, of Lake Mary, Florida, formerly of Narragansett, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026, at AdventHealth Hospice in Altamonte Springs, Florida. He was the beloved husband of Beverly A. (Morrissey) Gribbin, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island, Daniel was the son of the late Francis J. and Joan A. (Walsh) Gribbin. He was raised in Rhode Island and made Narragansett his home before relocating to Florida 43 years ago.
In addition to his wife, Beverly, he leaves his daughter, Robyn Marie and husband James P. Huff of Sorrento, Florida; his siblings, Barbara J. Bachand of Seekonk, Massachusetts, Jeffrey R. Gribbin of Harrisville, Rhode Island, Colleen A. Gribbin of Cumberland, Rhode Island, and Kathleen F. Raposo of Norwood, Massachusetts; as well as several loving nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Christopher E. Gribbin.
Daniel proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army National Guard, serving faithfully until his Honorable Discharge. He successfully completed the Officer Candidate Course and received recognition as a Second Lieutenant in the Rhode Island Army National Guard.
Daniel had a strong Catholic faith and a deep belief in God that guided his life and comforted him throughout his journey. He was kind, generous and compassionate to everyone. Daniel had a beautiful soul. He was a parishioner of Annunciation Catholic Church in Altamonte Springs, Florida. A hardworking and dedicated man, Daniel was employed by Federal Express in Florida for 25 years until his retirement. Prior to moving to Florida, he worked for United Parcel Service in Rhode Island for 10 years.
Daniel had a lifelong love of sports and was always ready to cheer on his favorite teams. He was a devoted fan of New York Giants, Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, Boston Bruins and his favorite of all Notre Dame Fighting Irish football. He also enjoyed fishing, golf and the time spent with his with family and friends. He especially cherished time spent with his loving daughter, Robyn.
Although Florida became his home, Rhode Island always held a special place in Daniel's heart. He treasured his trips north to visit his parents and family. Those visits remained especially meaningful to him throughout the years.
More than anything, Daniel will be remembered for the way he made people feel. He was rarely without a smile and possessed a wonderful sense of humor that brought laughter and warmth to those around him. His easygoing nature, love of family, and ability to find humor in everyday life created countless memories that his family and friends will continue to cherish.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Visitation on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd, Rt. 122, Cumberland, Rhode Island. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local Animal Rescue Organization in memory of Daniel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 in Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1030 Dexter Street, Central Falls, Rhode Island.
Burial will follow in Mt. St. Mary’s Cemetery, 661 Prospect St, Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
