Constance Marion (McPherson) Almeida, affectionately known as Connie, passed away on April 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She has now joined her beloved husband, Wenceslau S. Almeida, Jr., and her son, Thomas Almeida Sr.

Born on May 16, 1926, in Providence, Rhode Island, Connie was the cherished daughter of Mary Antoinette (Smith) Curti and John Francis McPherson. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Shirley Sousa, Henry Curti, Edward Curti, Joseph (Fred) Curti, and Loraine Curti.

Connie spent her childhood in Providence and Pawtucket and resided in Cumberland throughout her adult life.

Connie was a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church, where her faith played a central role in her life. Praying the rosary to Our Lady was a daily ritual for her. She dedicated countless hours to rolling tens of thousands of raffle papers for the church feast, preparing filho', and cooking in the kitchen for community events. Connie was also an active participant at the Cumberland Senior Center for nearly 40 years. The "Senior Center Family" meant the world to her, and she spent many days there enjoying BINGO, parties, playing High-Low Jack, and the company of her numerous friends.

Connie worked at Hasbro in Pawtucket as a supervisor for more than 30 years. Over her career there, her coworkers became her dearest friends. These friendships lasted her entire life, well past her retirement.

Throughout her life, Connie enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including gardening, bowling, and knitting, creating hundreds of treasured keepsakes. She loved traveling with friends and family, especially her grandchildren, who hold many special memories of these trips with her.

Connie always made room in her heart and home for her four-legged companions. Over the years, she cared for Missy, Penny, Molly, Ruby, and her current fur baby, Maya. Even in her final days, Connie walked Maya daily around the cul-de-sac where she lived.

Connie is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Santos and her husband Rick, as well as her daughter-in-law, Suzanne Almeida. She was known as "Gram" to everyone she met, but spending time with her grandchildren was the highlight of her life: Diane Almeida Tootell and her husband Kenneth, Thomas Almeida Jr. and his wife Jennifer, Mark A. Tapley Jr. and his wife Angela, Sarah Iwuc and her husband Stephen, Christopher Tapley and his wife Alexis, Jason Dean, Jerred Dean and his wife Julie, Jamie Austin and her husband Dennis. Connie's legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Julia Tootell, Lila Iwuc, Tyler Almeida, Cameron Almeida, Colton Tapley, Adrian Mello, and Baby Girl Tapley (expected in June). "Aunt Connie" was a constant presence for her nieces, Cindy (Curti) Langley and Laurel (Curti) Travers, and nephews, Ray and Joe Curti. Family was of utmost importance to Connie, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Connie's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, from 5 to 8 PM and continue on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 9 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM in Our Lady of Fatima, 1 Fatima Drive, Cumberland. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.
