Claire A. Philbin, 90, wife of Thomas C. Philbin (of Cumberland) and mother of Sharon Parks and her husband, Gary, of Cumberland; Kathleen Wallace and her husband, Wayne, of Emporia, VA; and Thomas E. Philbin and his wife, Rose, of Cumberland. She also leaves her sister, Annette Rozak, of Shrewsbury, MA. She was the sister of the late Norman Corriveau, Rea Cragg, Bertha Rezendes, Roger Corriveau, and Rita Forester.
Claire was affectionately known as "Nana" to all. Family and friends always felt welcomed by her vibrant personality and friendly nature. She organized family gatherings and kept generations connected, fostering relationships that remain strong today.
Mrs. Philbin was a graduate of the first Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) class in the State of Rhode Island, offered by the Community College of Rhode Island. She spent her career primarily at Landmark Medical Center in the one-day surgery department.
In addition to her devotion to family, Claire's faith was unwavering. Her strength and trust in God guided her through life's challenges and shone brightly in her smile and upbeat personality, even as she embraced her journey with Alzheimer's.
Claire loved singing, dancing, and occasionally yodeling. She was actively involved in her church choir, bowling league, and golf.
Claire cherished her 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The memories her grandchildren hold dear will be passed down to future generations, ensuring her legacy lives on.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Claire's Life Celebration, which will begin with visiting hours on Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 4 to 7 PM and continue on Friday, January 10, 2025, at 9 AM at the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM at St. Aidan / St. Patrick Church, 1460 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Claire's memory to St. Aidan / St. Patrick Parish, 1460 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland, RI 02864.
Claire's family deeply appreciates the compassionate care provided by the nurses and staff at Oakland Grove and Beacon Hospice.
