Christopher Patrick
Roderick
Sep 8, 1989 — Jun 27, 2026
Johnston
Christopher Patrick Roderick, 36, of Johnston, formerly of Cumberland, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, June 27, 2026.
Born in Providence, he was the beloved son of Michelle Kelly Roderick and the late Patrick Roderick.
Christopher was a proud graduate of Meeting Street School. Living with cerebral palsy, he showed everyone who knew him that true strength is measured not by physical ability, but by courage, resilience, kindness, and love. He met each day with gratitude, a gentle spirit, and an appreciation for life's simple joys.
Christopher loved books, watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!, and had a lifelong fascination with meteorology. He also enjoyed swimming, Disney movies, saltwater fish, cheering on the New England Patriots, competing in the Special Olympics, and never turned down a bag of salt & vinegar chips with some apple juice.
In addition to his mother, Christopher is survived by his siblings: Stephanie Roderick-Pelosi of; Jasmine Badru (Kola) of Texas; DaLynn Cusson of Johnston; Michael Roderick of Cranston; Jonathan Roderick (Alessandra) of Warwick; William and Samuel Roderick of Johnston; and Robert Roderick of Florida. He was a proud and loving uncle to Arona, Amaurie, Hunter, Dilana, DJ, Amirah, Aniyah, Gabriel, Grant, and Emilia. He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Christopher's life was a reminder that joy can be found in life's simplest moments and that a gentle heart leaves one of the greatest legacies. Though our hearts are broken by his unexpected passing, we find comfort in knowing he is finally free from the limitations of this world and at peace with the Lord. His courage, kindness, and quiet strength will continue to inspire everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
Viewing hours will be held at JJ Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Cumberland, Rhode Island, on July 10th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Christopher's memory to a local Special Olympics organization, honoring his passion and dedication.
Following the viewing, family and friends are warmly invited to gather for a memorial reception to celebrate Christopher's life. Light refreshments will be served, and all who knew and loved him are welcome to attend. Additional details will be announced.
Fly high, Chris. You're finally free.
"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." — Isaiah 40:31
