Obituary

CUMBERLAND

Christopher J. Caramela, 58, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 4, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was the devoted husband of Kristin (Blaisdell) Caramela, with whom he shared eight wonderful years of life and love.

Born in Prince George, MD  he was the beloved son of the late Edward Caramela and the late Vivian (Lyons) Nixon, and the cherished stepson of Margaret Caramela of Chepatchet, RI and the late Edwin Nixon. Chris had made his home in Cumberland for many years, after previously residing in Pawtucket.

Chris dedicated his professional life to his work as an Electrical Sales Representative, a career he pursued with diligence and commitment for many years.

A man of many passions, Chris was a proud member of the Beagle Club and had a deep love for his three Newfoundland dogs—Mufasa, Abagail Adams, and Marilyn—who were truly part of his family. A devoted United States history enthusiast, he also gave his time as a volunteer for Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., helping to provide life-saving bullet and stab protective vests for police canines.

In addition to his beloved wife and dogs, Chris leaves behind his daughters, Alexandra Fontaine of Woonsocket and Adrianna Caramela-Fontaine of Woonsocket; his stepchildren, Daniel Grillo of Norfolk, MA, and Tanya Grillo of Blackstone, MA; his sister, Lori (Caramela) Ryel and her husband Ron of North Brookfield, MA; his brothers, Phillip Nixon of Texas and Mitchell Nixon of Providence; and his stepsiblings, Julie (Pratt) Glasko, Stephen Pratt, Gail Nixon, and Amy (Nixon) Honea. He will also be lovingly remembered by his seven grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Christopher's Life Celebration with Visiting Hours on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, from 4 to 7 PM at the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., P.O. Box 9, East Taunton, MA 02718.
