well known for her quick wit and unique ability to recall specific details about life events

Christina T. (Marshall) Lemay, 88, passed away on September 29, 2026, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Emile Lemay Jr. for 68 years. Born in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Christina and John (Williams) Marshall.

She was a 1957 graduate of Cumberland High School and served as Vice President of her graduating class. She worked as a bookkeeper at several local businesses, including Rumford Steele and Kirkbrae Country Club. She was also a highly active member of St. Joan of Arc Parish in Cumberland, serving as a CCD teacher and volunteer throughout the years.

She was well known for her quick wit and unique ability to recall specific details about life events that had occurred many years before. She was an exceptional cook and very much enjoyed hosting family gatherings. Her talents extended to sewing, where she crafted everything from clothing for her family and elegant wedding dresses to intricate curtains.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Murphy of Lincoln, RI; her two sons, Emile Lemay III and his wife, Darya, of Collegeville, PA, and Michael Lemay and his wife, Celeste, of Sturbridge, MA; and her five grandchildren, Makena Murphy, Rachelle Lemay, Monique Lemay, Clarice Lemay, and Danielle Lemay.

"Death is Nothing at All"

“Death is nothing at all have only slipped away to the next room.  I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, That, we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name. Speak to me in the easy way  which you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effect. Without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same that it ever was. There is absolute unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?

I am but waiting for you. For an interval. Somewhere. Very near. Just around the corner.

All is well.

Nothing is past; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before only better, infinitely happier and forever we will all be one together with Christ.
