Charles D. "Charlie" Delisle, (CAPT. NCFD RET.) 68, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, in the Hope Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence, with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Helene (Delorme) Delisle. They have been married for the past 43 years.

Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Alfred J. and Marie Laure (Rainville) Delisle. Charlie was a lifelong resident of Cumberland.

A 1975 graduate of Cumberland High School, he continued his education at CCRI and Bryant College, always striving to better himself. In his younger years, he gave back to local youth sports as a coach for the Cumberland‑Lincoln Boys Club baseball program and as a volunteer referee for the Cumberland Youth Hockey League, sharing his love of teamwork, sportsmanship, and mentorship with the next generation.

He embraced life with enthusiasm, whether cheering on his beloved Montreal Canadiens, enjoying a peaceful round of golf, or reminiscing about his younger years on the softball field. Charlie enjoyed his years playing softball in the Woonsocket Industrial League, the Cumberland Independent League, and later the Cumberland Over-30 League, forming friendships and memories that lasted a lifetime. In his later years, he cherished the warmth of Naples, Florida winters spent with his wife, where they found relaxation, sunshine, and time together away from the New England cold.

He was a proud and dedicated member of the Cumberland Firefighters Local 2722, I.A.F.F., where he remained actively involved throughout his career and beyond. Known for his unwavering support of his fellow firefighters, he participated in countless fundraisers, community initiatives, and union events over the years. His commitment to service extended far beyond the firehouse, reflecting his deep belief in brotherhood, solidarity, and giving back to the community he served so faithfully.

Charlie began his firefighting journey as a volunteer with the former Berkley Fire Department, proudly serving for eight years before joining the former North Cumberland Fire Department—now the Cumberland Fire Department—where he dedicated more than 31 years of service and retired with the distinguished rank of Captain. Throughout his career, he was admired town‑wide for his leadership, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to protecting his community.

Before entering the fire service full‑time, he worked as a forklift operator for Mark Stevens/CVS, and later became a dedicated employee of the J.J. Duffy Funeral Home, where his reliability and compassion were deeply valued.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his sister-in-law Suzanne Keeley of Scottsdale, AZ and his brother-in-law Richard Delorme of Holden, MA. His three god children, one niece and one nephew, and cousins, along with many lifelong friends that were like family.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Charlie's Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours on Monday, January 19, 2026, from 4 PM to 7 PM, and continuing on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 9 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM in the Historic St. Joseph Church, 1303 Mendon Road Cumberland. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Cumberland.
