Seekonk,

Charles M. Catarina, 88, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023, in the Philip Hulitar, Hopes Hospice & Palliative Care Center, Providence. He was the husband of the late Elisete F. (Nunes) Catarina.

Born in Gaula Madeira, Portugal, he was the son of the late Manuel D. and Maria (de Nobrega) Catarina. He resided in Seekonk and previously Pawtucket for many years.

He was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland. He was also a member of the Club S.U. Madeirense, Central Falls.

He was a US Army Veteran.

Charlie was employed by the Cumberland School Department for many years until his retirement in 1997. He was previously the Co-owner with his brother Manny Catarina of the former M&C Grille, Pawtucket for many years.

He leaves his children, Lisa Lyon of Seekonk, Linda Johnston and her husband Peter of Warwick, Carl Catarina and his wife Tammy of Millville, MA and Paul Catarina and his wife Diane of North Smithfield. Two brothers; Manuel Catarina of Cumberland and Louis Catarina of Providence. Six grandchildren, Christopher Lyon, Andrea Jawczak, Peter Johnston, Addi Catarina, Aaron and Brandon Catarina. One great-grandchild, Jack Jawczak, along with several nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of the late Olivia Catarina and Derek Lyon. He was also the brother of the late, Adelino Catarina, Aurora Catarina and Lucinda Cardoza.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Charles' Life Celebration to be held Thursday, February 16, 2023, beginning with Visiting Hours from 4 to 7 PM and continuing on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 9 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM in the Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1 Fatima Drive Cumberland. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
